PLEASE help me find some fat-free low protein recipes for my dad? 5

Posted on December 28, 2010 by lowfatdg

My dad has to adjust his diet a lot due to a bout of acute pancreatitis and he’s having a hard time. What can I make him that’s fat free or very low in fat, and has almost no protein? He’s never had to diet before because of his metabolism and me and my mom haven’t either so we really don’t know anything about nutrition. He loves (well loved) chocolate and practically lived off of meat. But now he’s pretty much vegan against his will and will probably have to follow this diet forever. He’s tired of it already and since he’s otherwise super-healthy and fit (a full time martial arts master) this won’t shorten his life as long as he follows the rules so he has a loooooooooooong time to go. Dessert recipes are especially appreciated. Maybe a fruit pie or cookies or cakes with applesauce instead of oil would work?

Why am I incapable of losing fat unassisted? 2

Posted on December 12, 2010 by lowfatdg

I have been trying to lose fat recently because I have cholesterol issues, but I’ve always found it hard. I’m well in to nutrition and have also tried all of the common risky diets under the sun to no avail.

I’m not really fat, I’ve got a BMI of 28 but I’m built for rugby and I’m 6ft 4in.

For the last 3 months I’ve eaten a daily calorie intake of no more than 2000cal on a low fat diet, and on rare occasion that I had some biscuits, a chocolate bar etc I had a smaller meal to compensate. According to a nutritionist because of my muscle mass and frame size I would naturally burn at least 3500cal per day without exercise (average male 2500cal)

On the low calorie & fat diet it was difficult to do exercise as I didn’t have enough energy, but i still should have lost fat as 3500-2000 = 1500 calories had to come from somewhere right?!!!

One thing I’ve learned is that fat loss is not as simple as it I wish it was. {If it was then 1g of fat contains 9 calories, so in a day I would burn 167g of fat and lose a kilo in 6 days! Without going to the gym and doing more}

I didn’t lose any weight when I went for my checkup last week so I’ve been put on orilstat! Fat pills that stop me absorbing so much fat in my gut. I hardly eat any fatty foods, so not sure if that’ll work either.

I’m aware that most people jump straight to metabolism as their problem when they’re just in denial about stuffing their faces. THIS PERSON IS NOT ME! So I’m not ruling about metabolism as there seems to be no other way to explain why I never lose fat. When I rowed for uni 12 times a week i still maintained fat levels, just put on more muscle so I appeared slimmer.

Sorry this is so long, I’m hoping to attract a few nutritionists and medical experts, not to say anyone’s view isn’t welcome!!! Any tips from anyone would be very helpful.

Thanks

What are some healthy, low fat protein foods I can add to a raw vegetable diet? 5

Posted on September 30, 2010 by lowfatdg

I am currently trying a raw vegetable diet and I am afraid I may become protein deficient. I am not a vegetarian, I am just looking for a healthy eating plan. I would like to know what foods are rich in protein and are still low fat and good for you.

I am open to both vegetarian and meat options. I just want to make sure I won’t be starving my body of any vital nutrients it needs to function properly and keep my metabolism going at a healthy rate.

Any ideas on some protein rich foods I could add to my diet?

What about healthy carbohydrates? Do I also need to incorporate carbs into my diet?
