High cholesterol question for dietitian? 3

Posted on November 12, 2010 by lowfatdg

I am looking for some sights on line for food suggestions for high cholesteral. Don’t know where to go. Can you help please? I just rec’d a call from my doc. She said my overall cholesterol is 230, LDL is 170. and HDL is a 45. She is putting me on a generic Zocor. I do excercise 3 times a week at Curves, and I do try to eat healthy (DH is on low/no fat diet for his cholesterol) and never go to fast food joints. She would like me to see a dietitian, but I am leaving town for a month on Friday. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Total cholesterol low? 1

In December ’08, my total cholesterol was 180. I’ve been on a high-fat, moderate-protein, and low-carbohydrate diet since and my total cholesterol plummeted to 137.

My lipid panel improved dramatically in every other way, but the lab work marked my total cholesterol as "low" (reference range 150-200). I’ve been reading about low total cholesterol and an increased risk of stroke. My doctor didn’t seem to think this was a problem at all, but I’m just wondering if any of you have low total cholesterol and what your doctors thought.

Thanks!
Thanks, Dave. My LDL is 81 and my HDL is 42. My triglycerides are 70. Is that all right?
